OUR CHURCH

“Therefore take heed to Yourselves and to All the Flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the Church of God which He purchased with His Own Blood.” ~ Acts 20:28

The presence of the Coptic Orthodox Church currently comprises of 4 Churches and 2 Monasteries across the State of Queensland – Australia.

Under the care and guidance of the Diocese of Sydney and Affiliated Regions, the first of which - is the Saint Mary & Saint Joseph Coptic Orthodox Church in Coopers Plains. This Church is the oldest and the first established Coptic Orthodox Church in Queensland under the care of Fr. Abanoub Maximos.

There is also the Saint Mina & Saint Anthony Coptic Orthodox Church situated at the heart of the Gold Coast in Helensvale under the care of Fr. Abraham Rizk.

The Virgin Mary Coptic Orthodox Church in Calamvale under the care of Fr. David Mahrous & Fr. Matteous Wahba. In addition, the establishment of the 2 newly built Coptic Orthodox Monasteries in the Queensland Hinterland. Saint Mary & Saint Anthony Coptic Orthodox Monastery along with the Saint Mary & Archangel Michael Monastery for Nuns.

Lastly, Our Beloved - Saint Mark & Saint George Coptic Orthodox Church in the North of Brisbane, Strathpine under the care and guidance of Father Bishoy Wassef.

The Saint Mark & Saint George Coptic Orthodox Church - was recently consecrated by H.G Bishop Daniel from the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney & Affiliated Regions.

Father Bishoy Wassef, serves as the Parish Priest of Saint Mark & Saint George Coptic Orthodox Church as well as Deputy-Vicar of Queensland. He serves a congregation of more than 200 members and families in the North of Brisbane.

Additionally and in culmination to this – Our Fathers the Priests run a roster to provide services to many other Copts who have settled in different regions of Queensland such as Toowoomba, Townsville, Bundaberg, Sunshine-Coast, Maryborough and North Queensland.

At the Saint Mark & Saint George Church – Fr. Bishoy Wassef is the Chairman of the Church Committee Board. This consists of a secretary, treasurer and general members. The Church committee overseas the management of various services, activities and projects that address the fundamental requirements of Our Church and the vital needs of its congregation.

 

Mission and outreach is a core element of the services the Churches in Queensland provide to the sick, needy and homeless.

 

The Coptic Church prides itself and is humbled by the services that it carries out - with its Sunday School classes, deacons, women’s committee groups and youth development.

Although, the Saint Mark & Saint George Church is fairly new and modest in its resources – it runs a very successful and balanced spiritual and social program for all age levels - from the very young to teens to the service of the elderly.

 

Its emphasis is on putting the spiritual and social development of its members and congregation - as its prime goal. Through the Grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Power of the Holy Spirit as its driving force – the Church commits to serving all its congregation, mission, outreach and homeless services through its servants, volunteers and Blessed Clergy.
