SUNDAY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Sunday School - Mission & Purpose

Saint Mark & Saint George Coptic Orthodox Church - Sunday School, is devoted to Orthodox Christian education and teaching.

The purpose of this is to help build up the Church, the Body of Christ - by nurturing every person in the life of personal communion with the Holy Trinity. Being a part of the total life of the Church - Orthodox Christian education, is effective in the context of “Living the Faith” at home, at work, at school, with family, with friends, at Church and in Society.

All students in our Sunday School should be in Church for Worship and ready to partake in the Divine Liturgy and receive the Holy Communion. Children are expected to sit quietly and participate in a respectful manner during the Divine Liturgy.

Students will be dismissed after Holy Communion at 11:30AM (dependent on the start times of the liturgy) and must report directly to their respective classrooms and Sunday School teachers.

At the end of class (approximately 12:30 noon), the students will be dismissed, and parents or guardians can pick them up after enjoying the coffee hour and or “Agape” – Meal of Love.

Faithful attendance is our only guarantee that our students will receive a meaningful understanding of the Christian Life and the Holy Orthodox Faith.

The Sunday School Aims To:

  1. Instruct our children to learn about their True Faith in Christ, the Truth of the Bible and our Orthodox teachings.

  2. Cultivate in the hearts of our children a strong character with high moral values.

  3. To cultivate in our children a deeper love and respect for their parents, their families and society in general.

  4. Provide a sense of community and develop an identity which form the armour for being a Christian in society.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

The Lord Jesus Christ not only taught the multitudes. He had compassion on them and fed them.

Our Lord said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.” (Matthew 15:32)
